Biography

Biography

I was born in London in 1980 and I grew up in Berkshire with my family (two brothers, Mum, Dad and dog) where I attended primary and secondary school and Reading College of Art and Design. I went to university in Chichester where I studied Music, majoring in piano, and was able to continue to study art and contemporary dance along side this. I was introduced to free improvisation at university by my tutor Rod Paton and I have used it ever since, in my work as a music therapist, piano teacher and as a songwriter.

After university I studied jazz piano before completing my training as a Music Therapist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I went on to set up and deliver music therapy services in schools and hospitals in London and Berkshire, specialising in the field of psychiatry with experience both in adolescent and adult facilities. I became the co-ordinator of the Free Improvisation Network for the Association of Professional Music Therapists where I was able to play alongside experienced improvisers and just have a lot of fun with music.

In September 2010 I left my post as music therapist in the NHS and moved to Wales, in the Black Mountains to dedicate my time to song writing. I live on a gorgeous spot in a little caravan on the grounds of a lovely farm. I offer piano lessons to people in the local area.
